In fall
2007, Iwo Jima flag raiser Cpl. Chuck Lindberg, along with his fellow heroes
of the 3rd Platoon, E-Company, 28th Marines, who fought in the battle for
Mt. Suribachi, reunited in Washington D.C. during the Veteran's Day weekend.
Their platoon is believed to be the most decorated platoon in Marine Corps
history for a single engagement.
During their reunion, they signed our "Iwo Jima, the First Flag"
prints, attended the Marine Corps birthday ball at Quantico, attended the
opening of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Veteran's Day ceremony
at Arlington National Cemetery, and breakfast at the White House with President
Bush.
