ORIGINALS
"BLOODY GULCH" CONCEPT DRAWING
June 13, 1944: The paratroopers of E-Company, 506th P.I.R., have never seen a fight like this one. When the 101st Airborne set out that morning to clear the Germans from around Carentan, they unknowingly advanced into a massive enemy counterattack. Tanks, Panzergrenadiers, and Fallschirmjägers hit the American lines in waves. Easy’s left flank folded. Elite American troops were on the verge of routing and the enemy was within a quarter-mile of Carentan.
That’s when Lt. Richard Winters went from man to man, urging Easy to “pour it on.” Now, their fortitude is rewarded. Sherman tanks roll forward with infantry on their heels. The 2nd Armored Division is here; Easy Company held just long enough. “The Battle of Bloody Gulch” will conclude swiftly and Winters will point to this day as Easy’s finest hour.

"THEY MEANT VICTORY" CONCEPT DRAWING
D-Day +1: P-51 Mustangs of the 354th Fighter Group slice through the skies above Ste. Mère Église. While the sound of Merlin engines reverberates in the streets below, townspeople watch M4 Shermans of the 746th Tank Battalion rumble through—the first armor off Utah Beach.
As the mayor of the French town would recall: “Majestic as gods, powerful as giants. They meant victory, and for us, deliverance!” In the church square, 82nd Airborne paratroopers point the tankers toward the fighting. Within minutes, these M4 Shermans will roar into battle, joining the flyboys on the path to triumph.

"EVER FORWARD" CONCEPT DRAWING
By 8:30 a.m., the 29th Division has run into the full fury of Hitler’s “Atlantic Wall.” For two hours, the 116th Infantry Regiment has been pinned down on “Dog Red” sector of Omaha Beach. No training could have prepared them for this. “But you learn fast,” a sergeant said. “It’s a quick study when your life’s on the line.”
Now, something’s changed. Commingled units regroup. American “Can-do” spirit takes over. Original objectives go out the window—they’ll improvise instead. The regiment with the motto, “Ever Forward,” is going to find a way off this beach. As M4s of the 743rd Tank Battalion weigh in, the troops make their break. This is the turning point, the moment when heroes decided there’s only one path to victory: Forward.
